Traveling Jobs – Learn How to Write Travel Articles and Holiday Reviews

A dream of many writers is to get traveling jobs as journalists and travel for free. In this article you can learn how to write great travel articles and holiday reviews and what you should avoid.

Most journalists are naturally curious. They also tend to be restless, sociable creatures with a taste for adventure who enjoy exploring new places, meeting new people and finding out more about unfamiliar cultures and lifestyles. It should come as no surprise that journalists who love to travel want to share their experiences in print wherever possible.

Travel writing is an extremely competitive market. There is no destination that hasn’t been written about a million times, so it is vitally important to get the right angle to make your article stand out above the rest.

For thousands of writers, writing for a top travel magazine would be the dream job. However your professional credentials must be impeccable. This will mean you will have a sound track record and be regularly printed, ideally in a range of publications. You will also be reasonably traveled and have the ability to gather enough suitable material for new articles that will stand out. (more…)

Travel to Oman for an Exotic Vacation

Saint Augustine said, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page”. Travel has not only become a recreational activity but also a means of expanding one’s dimensions in the world. Meeting new people, exploring unsullied places, trying different cuisines, and understanding novel cultures is not only an experience, but also fun. Oman is one such destination that is fast becoming a favorite on the travel map.

Housing “Arabia’s Jewel”, the capital city of Muscat, Oman is a blend of the long forgotten and the yet-to-be-discovered character that every travel must embody. Muscat is an awesome mixture of old and new. It boasts of all modern amenities and yet preserves an ancient charm.

The additional attractions in Oman are Sur, a coastal town that has retained the more traditional lifestyle. Nizwa is a city famous for its handicrafts, and Oman’s ancient monument, the Nizwa Fort. Salalah, known for its beaches, which are ideal for scuba diving, diving, jet skiing, sailing, and canoeing. Musandam peninsula is known for its striking mountains with unusual textures and patterns.

One can book a dhow and visit Khawr Ash Shamm from Musandam, to see marine life in placid waters for a breathtaking experience. Masirah Island is a stark rocky landscape rimmed with secluded beaches and loggerhead turtles that come to nest there. This island also has a variety of shellfish and other marine life.

Apart from these exclusive places to see one may enjoy other activities such as photography, filming, rock climbing, scuba diving, ice skating, trekking, camel racing, game fishing, sailing, and horseback riding. From mountains to desert to seascapes, Oman is thriving in multiplicity and thus offers something special for every traveler. (more…)

Everything in life comes down to opportunities. The opportunities we grab and take advantage of make us happy and the opportunities we miss can sometimes make us regretful. When it comes to searching for a job, you need to take a proactive route. Being proactive means being aware of the pitfalls to avoid and planning ahead. What you want to do is create opportunities. This way of thinking will put you way ahead of the rest.

By reading this article, you are taking a proactive approach because you are seeking more information, and that is great. Knowledge is power and it is always foolish to do something hastily without understanding first. Hopefully these tips will help you with your travel job search and I’ll share to you the things to avoid in your quest.

Avoid generalizing. Be more specific with your career goals.

Introspection is very important. Set definite goals for yourself based on your inclinations and preferences. You should understand that not all jobs are right for you. Some jobs may not coincide with your skill set and other careers may not agree with your values and personality.

Desperation will often derail even the best planner so even if you are desperate, try to avoid applying for jobs you know you won’t be happy to do in the long run. Travel Writing: How to Make Money Blogging About Your Travels

Have you ever wanted to travel the world and make money for sharing your adventures with the world? Using the web and a simple blog, this couldn’t be easier. There are just a few simple, yet hidden techniques for making a healthy income for blogging about your travels.
In fact, the number of underground travelers who hold no jobs, yet make cash for writing about their  travels is growing by the day. We keep our mouths shut about our techniques as we visit worldwide destinations and get paid for telling the world about it. I know there have got to be great people out there who deserve to travel and want this information, so I’ve decided to share a few of our techniques:

1)   Own Your Blog. Sites like Blogger, Myspace, and BlogSpot are no good for our purposes, because you can’t tweak the site to make a profit very easily. Instead, if you buy a domain for 10 bucks and then install WordPress, you now have the platform to make it extremely profitable.

2)    Utilize PPC (pay-per-click) to get started. You won’t make a massive income off of this right away, but you can easily make 5-10 bucks a day in the beginning. That may not sound like a lot… but it’s enough for a meal every day or a flight after a month, and the number only gets bigger as your blog grows in readership. (more…)

Travel Jobs Overseas – What Is Available In This Economy?

With our current economic state, one has to wonder, “Are there good overseas travel jobs available today?”

The current financial crisis has had a strange effect on the travel and tourism industry. The high cost of travel has stopped casual travelers and not so affluent individuals who would want to take trips and explore the world. Yet somehow, the travel and tourism industry is weathering the storm.

Tourism is major sector for any country and it is especially vulnerable to economic uncertainty and volatility for a simple reason. Most travel and tourism involves discretionary expense. During tough economic times people conserve their cash to cover the essentials of life like food, shelter, and family necessities. However, this does not mean that tourism stops.

People will always continue to travel; and the industry may slow down but it never ceases. People just need to find ways to travel differently from the way they do during times of economic buoyancy. Hospitality and tourism businesses have managed to adapt by modifying pricing and marketing approach; and they appear to be surviving the crisis. (more…)

Travel Photographer Job – Can You Get Paid For Your Photographs?

Are you looking for travel photographer jobs? Do you like to take photos of interesting and beautiful things?

If you do, why not become a travel photographer? Traveling to different locations will give you more opportunity to see and capture interesting scenery. The great thing about this is you that you can get paid for your photographs.

Yes, it’s that simple. Travel and find scenery you would like to take photos of and voila! It’s money in your pocket. Nothing is more precious than making money out of something you love to do.

So, how to do it?

Ok, first of all, you must have a plan. Identify what type of travel photographs sell in the market. Then, match it with your interests. You must build a compromise between your passion and marketability. If you take photographs solely based on your passion and interests, the pictures may not easily sell because no one would really have a use for it. On the other hand, if you take photographs only for money’s sake – which is fine to some degree, but you might get bored and unmotivated.

When you already have prospect subjects in mind, travel to places where you can find them. This is the investment part of your venture especially if you are still new at travel photography. You have to finance your travels at first. (more…)

Could You Work in a Foreign Country to Pay for Travel?

Could You Work in a Foreign Country to Pay for Travel?

Of course you could! There are plenty of opportunities for travelers who want to work overseas especially if you speak English or better yet, are bilingual. But to work abroad there are some things to consider before you go.

1. Find out if Americans can work in the country you intend to travel to. Not all countries allow foreigners to work there while they are visiting.

2. Get a work permit. This documentation is different from your passport or visa. You can organize a work permit before you leave home or once you arrive in the country you want to work in. This will depend on where you intend to work.

3. If you are a traveling student, it may be easier to get work through a student work exchange plan. Or you may even be able to organize a transfer through your company to work abroad. If so, all the leg work will be done for you.

4. If you have a particular job in mind, in a particular country, then you will need to do some research and contact potential employers before you go. If you do find someone wishing to employ you before you leave on your travels, get them to send you a letter stating the employment offer with a copy to their respective government. You will then be issued with a work permit for that country.

5. Consider working as a volunteer on your travels. Volunteer organizations are looking for helpers to assist with programs all over the world. You will be paid by the organization (usually just transport, food and board expenses), not the country you are going to. You do not need a work visa to be a volunteer in these programs. (more…)
